Question: I was diagnosed Trigeminal Neuralgia by a eye doctor and I was sent to see a Neuro-Ophthalmologist but he did not pay any attention why I was there. He did not listen to my condition but tried to give some drug one another. He mentioned that my eyes are fine but dry eyes. Other 4,5 eye doctor said the same. I refused take any drug he mentioned. I wanted to know why and how my eyes are very bothered. He game a drug for eye pain after surgery. I did not take that. He did not look the tests performed a few weeks ago either. He told me I have pain in my eyes because I am getting old. I know that. I was very much disappointed and surprised by his actions as a doctor. Anyway I would like to have any opinion to my condition of my eyes. I have pain above my eyes (one side at time) and it bothers my eye. I have slight pain besides of my head and elsewhere related to Trigeminal Neuralgia I guess. The pain is not strong enough to take any drug. I want to avoid taking any drug if I can because I have had some terrible side effects from drugs esp. blood pressure drugs. One caused ringing ear I can't get rid of on my left side of head. Eye drop a eye doctor gave me caused blurred vision for 2 weeks and made my vision worse and etc. Amitriptyline for Trigeminal neuralgia my eye doctor prescribed caused high blood pressure. My eye(s) are bothered with slight pain above my eyes around eye brows, sometime a sharp pain one moment, feel like can't see well when I am driving etc. 2. I have low blood pressure 111/62, 106/68, 110/70 etc. especially aternoon and can not do anything. However, I had high blood pressure 2, 3 weeks ago 170/88, 166/82 some time. I feel dizzy often and do not feel well. When I start moving walking, working outside I can keep going but before that it is very hard to get up. Besides, my feet get very cold suddently and I have to warm up otherwise I feel bad. I have coughs, feel like getting cold or neumonia , my chest safocated, difficult to talk /voice sometime. This might be side effect of Blood Pressure drug Losartan Potassium 25mg. I had some similer condition from the blood pressure drugs before. When I stopped taking blood pressure drug, I started having high blood pressure. Prescribe Drug: Losartan Potassum 25mg Supplements: - Bitamin B12 500mcg X 2 /day - Eye Alntioxidant(Bilberry, Lutein Zeaxanthin, V. A,C,E etc. - thera tears eye nutrition (Omega 3, V.E etc)

Brief Answer:
Unlikely to be trigeminal neuralgia.

Detailed Answer:
my dear,
Thanks for sending your query to us .This is unlikely to be trigeminal neuralgia as the pain in TN is excruciating and is not the mild pain on the side of head as you described,so it is good that you avoided those medicines.
There are various causes of such heaviness as you are having, one is fluctuations of BP.This you have to keep track of,get it checked regularly.
Dry eye is another reason, for which lubricant eye drops are used.If one caused blurring, then your doctor has to advise a drop which suits you and doesn't cause blurring.
Since you are already taking good multi vitamins and supplements, continue with them.
There was a mention of surgery and no details were given. Please elaborate if relevant.

There is a labile hypertension, your BP increased on Any tryptamine so BP is to be monitored.
Do get back to me in case of any further query in this regard.

you for your reply and advise.

I am sorry that I did not specify my question very clearly. I was very much upset with the doctor mentioned before.

My eye especially right eye gives me trouble, having dull pain, vision got worse, get irritated while driving with stiff shoulder and neck, have a sharp pain sometimes etc.
I did not mention I have cataract besides dry eye. In order to have surgery of cataract I want to know why and what causes these problems with my eye. I don't want have any complication after surgery. For the moment, cataract does not prevent me from driving safely. I can see things but it bothers me sometimes with blurred vision.

For both eyes I have pain and irritation around eye brow sometimes. I guess this is due to TN2. Fortunately my TN is mild but have sharp pain in my face, teeth, cheek, eye brows and elsewhere.

I think it is better to see nerve doctor. Please advise.
Thanks. XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Neurology consultation needed.

Detailed Answer:
My dear,
Thanks for getting back to me.
Though dry eye needs lubricant eye drops for long periods, cataract surgery should be taken up after taking care of pain Issue. This will require consulting a neurologist, the nerve doctor.
As you have blurring of vision, cataract surgery has to be planned.Delaying cataract surgery is not advisable. As lens hardens and surgery becomes difficult.
Any further query in this regard please do get back to me.
