Hi, My daughter is 3 yrs 10 months old and 3ft 6inches height. Please let me know what should be the ideal weight?
She is currently weighing 23kgs which I think is over-weight. Can you please confirm it? Also, she doesnt eat any fast food and eat little quantity. Hence, what are the possible causes for her over-weight? Thank you -XXXXXXX

Thanks for posting your query.
According to her age she should ideally weigh about 16 kg but weight can possibly range from 12 to 23 kg .However she has an appropriate weight for height as her height is also above the optimal height which would be 3 ft 1 inch for a 4 yr old
Childhood obesity or overweight definition is not like adults and there is no single measurement applicable for all.So the best pointer is a childs regular growth monitoring on a growth chart by her pediatrician.
On the charts the childs weight can be plotted and the curve which it. follows determines the status of the child Only if it falls above the topmost curve or 95th centile then it. may be termed as overweight.
Also another important fact is the body mass index(bmi) which is calculated according to the weight and height. Her bmi can be compared to standard charts by her pediatrician which will give a better overview of body fat composition.
It is most probable that your child comes in at risk of overweight but not yet.
So please consult your pediatrician for a thorugh physical examination.

If there is no nutritional cause then growth disorders or hormonal imbalances may have to be ruled out .

Hope I have answered your query completely. Please write back if you have additional queries.

Please accept this answer if you have no further concerns.
