Child Having Fever And Cold. Not Cured By Hicet And Crocin Ds. Safe To Give Meftal P?
Question: Kid (3 year , 13 kg ) with fever from yesterday after a cold for few days, we have given hicet for 4 days and the fever started yesterday with 99.8 and now it is 101.7 to 102.4. last 5 dose we have given Crocin Ds 240 mg (3.75 ml per dose). Can we give meftal p ? Now (6.25 ml) what should we do if get high fever in night?

Your child seems to have upper respiratory tract infection as it is preceded by a cold.
For fever you can continue Crocin Ds syrup 3.75 ml every 6 th hourly depending on the presence of fever.
If there is high grade fever, do tepid sponging of the whole body of your child with lukewarm water after 5 to 10 minutes of giving Crocin Ds.
Meftal-P can be given in a dose of 3.5 ml every 8 th hourly and usually after food and it can be given for shorter period only.
If your child gets high fever in the night you give Crocin Ds or Meftal-P in prescribed dose and followed by do tepid sponging with lukewarm water till the temperature comes down.
Consult your Pediatrician in the morning for the examination to find out the focus of infection and its appropriate treatment.
