Respected Dr.Uma,

I am here again to seek your expert advise for my son. He is 3 years old and weighs under 11 kg. He does not eat well and and we even are not able to force feed him. He often catches cold because of the Bangalore weather.

We request you to please prescribe some external nutritional food/supplements that we can give him to gain weight and also something to improve his immunity.
I heard of brands called Nutritiv, but I would like to take your advise.
Thanks in advance.

With Regards,

Welcome back
How are you?

Yes your son has to gain atleat 5-6 kgs .
The way to give him good nutrition is by increasing the protein and calories especially.

For protein the natural food will be
Different dhals, espthe roasted Bengal gram which we use in chutnies, ground nut, toor and moong dhals.
Ofourse, milk, egg are also some wholesome food high in protein.
The above can be prepared in different ways with difft flavours to make it appealing for him.

For calories, butter ,sunflower oil ,sesame oil added to food are OK.

Reg food supplements.

Complan nutrigrow added to milk is OK.

There is another brand called GRD available as biscuits and as powder to be added to milk and given as supplement.

You can try them also once or 2 times per day plus all the natural food which I mentioned earlier.
I am not familiar with nutritive products, may be you mean nutrilite from Amway?

Fruits ESP a banana a day is good source of calories ,also dates.
If she likes nuts you can give them provided she will be patient yo bite and eat!

Anyway don't worry.- A doctor's child who I used to give protein supplement as an infant, became a well grown adult and graduated in Canada recently!!!
When I saw her photos yday ,I remembered her early infancy and was happy for her!!!
When your daughter goes to school and see other kids ,se will get a better routine!

Good luck
God bless u all
