Question: Can you please help me understand what this means on my MRI. ). The previously seen
enlarged, FDG avid, left periaortic lymph node is incompletely visualized and
roughly measures 2.5 x 2.2 cm compared to 2.1 x 1.6 cm on the MRI dated
7/10/2018. If incompletely visualized how can they say it is bigger. Conclusion states it is a partial lymphadenopathy

Brief Answer:
MRI explanation in details below.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Lymphadenopathy is a medical condition characterized by the the presence of lymph nodes abnormal in size.
The common cause of this medical condition are infections.
The lymph nodes should be less than 10 mm to be considered normal.
The lymph nodes visualized on the MRI,are 2.5 x 2.2 cm,so larger than normal range.
Through the MRI we can also see the heterogeneous T2 signal lesion.
This signal lesion is commonly related to benign formations with high density.

I would suggest a physical examination and a complete blood count to evaluate the cause of the swollen lymph node.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Thanks.

Thank you for your help. I am sorry as I know I should advise my diagnosis— non Hodgkin’s lymphoma which explains the enlarge lymph node. I guess what I don’t understand is if they say it is incompletely visualized how can they size it is larger from my last scan?

Brief Answer:
The meaning larger is always based on normal range parameters.

Detailed Answer:
Hi again dear,

The meaning larger is always based on normal range parameters of the lymph nodes.
Even if the lymph node is partially visualized through the MRI,maybe because of its position it is clearly larger than normal range.
The lymph nodes should be less than 10 mm to be considered normal.

Hope this answers your question.
Please let me know if you need further clarification.
