Brief Answer:
Highly unlikely due to yeast.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for the query on HCM.

I have read your query and reviewed the picture you sent.

Armpit lump occurs mostly because of some bacterial infection or it can also be lymph node enlargement or some tissue growth but HIGHLY unlikely due to some yeast (fungal infection).

However, the underlying cause can not be commented without proper clinical examination.

Also, the rashes over your both arms are more likely to be having urticaria (hives) and they are very unlikely related to this lump,so at present I will not think about this possibility.

I will suggest you to take over the counter antihistamines (cetrizine or levocetrizine 10) twice daily which would be more effective than cortisone or benadryl cream.

Calamine lotion will also be helpful if you have intense itching at both arms.

You can go for ultrasound of this lump to rule out any cancerous growth but no need to worry at this point time.

Hope this helps and let me know if you need more help.

Dr. Kabra, I apologize for not clearly stating the medications I've used. Just to clarify, I apply cortisone cream to my arms for rapid relief of itching. It's very effective. The Benadryl are pills (caplets) of which I take twice daily until hives are gone, usually 2 days. Isn't Benadryl a antihistamine? Also, are you suggesting that I take OTC antihistamine twice a day every day or only when I have an outbreak, and until it subsides? I'm understanding that the oral meds you suggest is the active antihistamine ingredient, correct me if I'm wrong. So my question is 2 parts.
Please advise, I don't want to incurr additional expense until I hear back from you.
Upon exam both Doctors determined the lump In armpit is not lymph nodes.
Thank you so much for your care. Again, I'm sorry for the confusion, this is my 1st online Doctor experience. Respectfully, Ellie XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
No need to buy another antihistamines pills.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX
Thanks for the clarifications and sorry for the delayed response.

If cortisone cream and benadryl caplets are being effective for you then you can continue with that until the rashes subside. There is no need to buy another antihistamines pills.

However, they are very unlikely because of your past yeast infection as I said earlier.

Regarding lump,if it is not a lymph node upon examination by your doctors, then it could be due to bacterial infection or some tissue growth which should be ruled out by appropriate tests.

Surgeon will examine it and will evaluate it further but I won't be able to say exactly without physical examination.

Let me know if I can help you more.

Regards,

Dr.Sandip Kabra
