Posted on Wed, 23 Nov 2022
Question: I injured my lower left back when waterskiing 4 days ago. Rest and ibuprofen have not helped, and the pain is worse, particularly when I walk, such that I spent yesterday reclined on a heating pad. Still experiencing sharp pain, and wonder if I should seek medical attention, and if so, what specialty?

Brief Answer:
Orthopedic surgeon.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

I suggest you to see a doctor as soon as possible. You may need further investigations and better pain killers which are prescription based medications.

You should ideally meet an Orthopedic surgeon. However, an X-ray of the back would reveal more details which can be ordered by primary care doctor as well. If there is a break they can refer you to specialist else they can prescribe you stronger pain killers.

Hope I am clear.

Regards
