Can Trauma In Rib Area Develop Into A Hernia?

Question: If a woman has a lower left 12th rib removed. Then a few years later falls and gets poked very hard in that lower rib area, causing sever trauma. Could this trauma develop the beginning of a hernia ? Thank you for your answer. XXXXXXX YYYY@YYYY and YYYY@YYYY
