Can Testicular Pain Be Due To Chlamydia Infection?

default
Posted on Mon, 16 Jun 2014
Question: My husband of 30 + years started having testicle pain ( he had prostate removed roboticallyy 3 years ago) and so went to his urologist and was given anti biotics for an infection (not yet diagnosed). Mostly from Google research he believes that he has chlamydia. I have had no other partner besides him for over 33 years. He says the same. Of course this is causing huge strife in our lives. We have three grown sons, I went through surgery for a hysterectomy, I go for annual health checks. Wouldn't't I know if I had chlamydia for over 30 years? Wouldn't't he have contracted it by me in over 30 years of frequent sex by now? Could the test results come back as some other kind of infection?

Brief Answer:
It can not be Chlamydia infection.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for your query, based on the facts that you have posted it appears that your husband has testicular pain and he suspects it to be due to Chlamydia infection.

I shall be happy if you can post me few more details to help me in making comments on your problem.
1) Does he have pus discharge from urethra.?
2) Does he have severe burning while passing urine ?
3) Does he have fever?

Purulent discharge from urethra ,burning urination ,and fever after having unprotected sex with unknown female or sex worker are common symptoms of chlamydia infection.

In view of your monogamous sexual relationship It is highly impossible for him to have Chlamydia infection.which is always acute and does not last for such a long period .

His testicular pain may be due to simple bacterial infection of testicles (Orchitis).

Please consult qualifid Urologist for clinical examination and get following basic tests to confirm the diagnosis.
1) Urine Routine and Urine culture.
2) Ultrasound scanning of Scrotum.
3)Swab test and culture of urethral discharge

In the mean while start taking broad spectrum antibiotics like Cefexine and anti inflammatory medication like Diclofenac twice daily .Later on switch on to appropriate antibiotics as per culture report.

Further treatment will depend upon the results of these tests and final diagnosis.

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions ,
I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.

Brief Answer:
It is unlikely to be Chlamydia infection.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for feedback.

Now, with confidence I can say that it is not Chlamydia Infection at all. Please get his ultrasound scanning of scrotum done to rule out Varicocele.

Thanks and Regards.
