Can Taking Norflox TZ Be Safe To Treat Loose Motions?

Posted on Tue, 21 Jul 2015
Question: I am 30 years old vegetarian male having stool problems since 1 month. It started with semi-solid stools which was not watery. This continued for 3 weeks even though my diet was normal. I took a Norflox TZ once or twice but it didn't help. But last week I went to a party and ate a lot. I fell very ill with slight fever, headache. Loose motions and cramps. I felt like vomiting but couldn't. Loose motion only happened twice. Gas was there. I was feeling like nothing is going to digest but felt very hungry. I took curd and continued normal diet. I took Norflox TZ twice a day for 3 days. Also took unienzyme tablets. First two days stool was very good and satisfying. The volume and density looked absolutely normal. But from third day it again became loose. The cramps were still there. I feel like nothing is digesting and am trying to burp all the time. I had eaten veg patties outside the previous day. Again yesterday I ate cake and roll and today I was had watery loose motions twice. My stool is dark today but its light in color usually. Urine is slightly yellow. Cornea is white.
I am worried if there is anything serious. I mostly lunch outside in corporate canteen. I do not feel weak but stomach is bad.

1.Please advise some medicines with brand names. Should I take Norfloz TZ? If yes then what should be the dosage and for how many days?
2.Is any test required? If yes please name them.

I am also having skin irritation on my right arm since 1.5 months. It started itching in the right arm in my AC office. It didn't itch outside in sun. The itching got more and area turned reddish with infection. I applied Cloben G for some day but itching remained. Now the itching is less and reddishness is gone but the area has developed discolored patches.

1. Please advise medicine for this. I am attaching photos.

Brief Answer:
Acute gastroenteritis

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for the query

It looks like you are suffering from acute gastroenteritis. Here is what I recommend

1. It is not enough to take norflox tz for 2 days, I recommend you to complete the course. It has to be taken morning and night for 5 days
2. Tab Sporolac is a pro biotic, it replaces all the bad bacteria of the intestine with good ones. Take two tablets morning, afternoon and night for 7 days
3. Avoid milk and milk products. Including coffee and tea until you are better
4. Try to have plenty of water. Make sure your diet is bland until you are better.
Avoid fried food
5. For gaseaous distention of the stomach Tab Pan-D is a wonderful drug. Take one in the morning before breakfast

For the skin lesion I recommend Betnovate. I suggest you meet a dermatologist.

I hope I was of help, if you have any further query please get back to me

Thanks..I will follow your advice.
1. I am taking Rabekind 20. Can it be used instead of PAN D? If no, then how long should I continue PAN D?
2. Can you name the brand for sporolac tablet with a couple of substitute? I saw Norflox TZ also contains Lactic Acid Bacillus 120 x 10^6 spores per tablet.

3. There are different varieties of Betnovate. Should I just apply the plain Betnovate cream?
4. Do I need to take any digestive tablets like unienzyme?

Brief Answer:
Acute gastroentritis

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for getting back

Since there are several questions I will answer them one by one so that I dont miss any of them

1. I suggest you to switch from Rabekind to Pan-D, I usually give it for 7-14 days based on how symptomatic they are. You can take it as long as you have bloating and burping. Do not exceed 14 days
2. Sporolac, Bacelac. There is another tablet VSL-3, it has to be taken once daily. It is more effective however more expensive as well
3. Plain Betnovate, apply it after washing the area well and drying it. Three times a day
4. Do not consume Unienzyme for now.

Thanks.
I did not find Sporolac, Bacelac tab in my area.
1. Is it same as 120 million Lactic Acid Bacillus spores in Norflox TZ?
2. I also suffer from constipation often. What should I take to clear constipation?
3. What should I do if I continue to have problems after medication? Anything better than Norflox TZ?

Hello

Thanks for getting back

1. It is the same lactic bacillus found in norflox tz but this will be of higher strength. For example VSL-3 is in billions.
2. Loose motion is almost always followed by constipation. Nothing needs to be done for that. However if you are asking in general then I suggest you to use Syp lactulose 15 ml at night for easy going stools in the morning
3. If the problem continues then you will need evaluation in the form of stool examination and colonoscopy. But how are you feeling now? Are you better
4. Dont forget to keep yourself well hydrated
