Brief Answer:
May be arthritis

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for posting the query.

Bilateral ankle swelling and the feeling of coldness can be due to many reasons.
The commonest cause being a synovitis / arthritis of the ankle joints.

However, other causes like subcutaneous pitting oedema of the lower limbs due to renal impairement, hypopropteinemia or side effect of a anti hypertensive drug are the other possibilities.

The cold feeling that you are getting at the ankle is due to nerve inflammation in that region.

You should get a detailed blood investigation done including complete blood count, renal function tests, albumin : globulin ratio and alkaline phosphatase.

Getting a Xray of both the ankles will be helpful.

Keep the legs elevated over a pillow as far as possible.

Take fibrinolytic tablets like trypsin, chymotrypsin and serratiopeptidase for reducing the swelling.

Apply compression bandage around the swollen area .

Get back to me once the reports are ready.

I hope the answer was useful.

Feel free to ask me any doubts that you may have.

Best wishes.

Wish you a speedy recovery.
