Brief Answer:
Skin ageing and cocaine

Detailed Answer:
hello. thank you for writing to us.

I am Dr. Kakkar (dermatologist). I have gone through your query and I have noted your concern.

Cocaine is a vasoconstrictor of cutaneous vasculature and causes dermal collagen and elastin atrophy. This, in addition to the normal ageing (chronological and photoageing) gives an older appearance to the patients skin. These changes are reversible if not too drastic and acted early upon. In addition to stopping cocaine I suggest you to use a broad spectrum sunscreen, throughout the day. Reapply every 2-3 hours. At night you may use an antiageing cream e g tretinoin 0.02% cream. Tretinoin slows collagen breakdown and helps rebuild new dermal collagen.
