Question: I am 47 years old male. I have high blood pressure for last 10 years.

As a routine checkup I did my lipds in Septemper 2015. And had broder line chorestrol and sugar levels.
I was asked by my physician to do a stress test. Which was positive and read 'Stress test is positive for exercise induced myocardial ischemia'.
My physician recommned to see a cardiologist. His openion was there does seem to be any blockages from stress test. But I should exercise
regiorously for about 1 hr every day. And he recommended me Metosartan 25 and ecosprin. And asked me to see him after 3 months.

Since then I have been exercising regularly. I did my lipids in XXXXXXX las week and saw the cardiologist.

His openion that I should continue exercise and also should continue taking Metosartan 25 and ecosprin.
He has asked me to see him in July 2016.

I would like not to take any of the medicines and continue exercises as part of daily routine.

If there any chance that one can be take off these medicnes?

Brief Answer:
You have to take the prescribed medications

Detailed Answer:
Dear R XXXXXXX Hi & Welcome.
Thanks for posting your query on health care magic.
Gone through the history given in your query and it seems to me you should take the prescribed medication Metosartan (Metoprolol + Telmisartan) for the effective control of your BP and Ecosprin ('blood thinner') to prevent the clot formation in the arteries of the heart. As these prescribed medications control the BP and also prevent the clot formation and the fact that your stress test was 'positive for exercise induced myocardial ischemia' you should take them forever.
As far as the exercise is concerned a vigorous exercise is not recommended for a patient with hypertension. Aerobic exercise with moderate intensity (like brisk walking) for at least 30 minutes a day for most days of the week is what you need to do.
Hope I could answer your query.

Thank you doctor.

But I have one small question. Can one do a stress test again (may be one can stop taking medicines before the test). Is there such practice followed? And do these stress test results improve?

Brief Answer:
Stress test can be done but withoug stopping the medication.

Detailed Answer:
Dear R XXXXXXX Hi & Welcome back.
Thanks for your reply and the compliments.

Yes, stress test can be done if your treating cardiologist feels but the practice is without stopping the prescribed medications. Since you have been having high BP for the last 10 years this is a major risk factor for the heart disease hence you are prescribed not only the BP lowering medications but also the medicine (Ecosprin) to prevent the clot formation and thus to reduce the risk of heart disease due to clot formation in the blood vessels of the heart. So, you need to continue these medications along with exercise and certain dietary modifications like reduced salt intake, avoiding alcohol and smoking, fatty meals, stress, etc.

Hope I could answer your query.
Best regards.
