Brief Answer:
No need to worry, No specific treatment is needed

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Physiological phimosis is a very common (in almost all) condition in infancy and can persist in older children also. It is due to temporary adherence of foreskin / prepuce to the glans in early life and improves on its own as the baby grows. Sometimes it is pathologic when there is permanent adherence due to repeated infection or some other reasons.

It is considered to be physiological till 3 years of age unless there is poor stream of urine or repeated infection. No specific treatment is needed and a single or two episodes of infection does not warrant it's release. As MCUG is normal and there are no other symptoms, there is no need to worry. Gentle retraction of prepuce during bath and cleaning as much as possible is sufficient.

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any more questions.

Brief Answer:
Phimosis is not the cause of UTI

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

I can understand your concern about the UTI and phimosis. But as said phimosis is quite common in this age and according to various research studies it has not been found to be a cause of UTI until the UTI is frequent, and there is dribbling of urine.

Sometimes it is very difficult to identify the exact cause of UTI and it can occur even with best hygiene. UTI can present with frequent urination of small quantity and improves as the infection subsides. I won't get worried for phimosis as of now as there is no associated problem.

Regards
