Question: Can pain medication cause hyperthyroidism ? I have developed hyperthyroidism recently and wonder if it was caused by this medication.

No, pain medications do not cause hyperthyroidism;

No, there are no data until now that tramdaol or other pain medications can cause hyperthyroidism.
You need to perform a thyroid ultrasound and a scintiscan to find out the cause of hyperthryoidsm, that may be a nodular goitre or Grave disease.
