Question: Its says at the end that it actually could be harmful and not very beneficial in the long run but then it says that we should detox atleast once a year.If i were to add protein to my shakes and made sure that my soups had a good source of protein, would it be better? I have one month to lose 20 pounds and I dont know what to do.

Brief Answer:
Low calorie diet is recommended

Detailed Answer:

Hi

Kindly let me know your weight and height, so that I am better able to help.

To reduce weight, the following diet changes can be taken:

- Cut out fatty foods like milk products (cheese, butter, cream, ice cream, cookies, pastries, cakes etc)
- Cut out oily foods and fried foods
- In non-veg, choose from the leanest cuts and pay attention to the method of cooking. You really do not want a piece with oil dripping from it. Boiled or roasted chicken and other meats are much healthier and easy to digest.
- Replace fatty foods with healthier foods like sprouts, fruits or salads. You may continue to take nuts and dry fruits in moderation.
- Fiber is important and you must ensure a liberal intake of fruits, vegetables and salads.
- Low fat dairy, vegetables and fruits, whole grains, salads, pulses and non-sugary peanut butter are some good options.
- Drink cleaner water in optimal amount. Avoid juices and high fat milk.
- Add foods that provide Vitamins, Iron, Calcium and Vitamin-D to promote health.
- Exercise is a must. At work, you can choose the stairs instead of elevators, walk around office, do desktop yoga to refresh, bicycle to job if possible, avoid prolonged sitting at laptops etc.

Hope it helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Brief Answer:
Yes, please keep me posted.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Yes, you can lose weight with determined efforts. Diet and exercise is the safest.

In Ayurveda Panchkarma, I have seen detox and weight loss therapies work for people. But when people return to their normal life, they tend to gain the weight back.

Detoxes do not suit everyone and may damage the intestines.

That is why, lifestyle changes are the best, especially at a young age.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Brief Answer:
You can follow-up in 5 days

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Do confirm if the weight provided is in kg or pounds. For a height of 5 ft 4 inches and weight of 143 pounds, BMI is normal.

For normal BMI, drastic weight loss is not needed. Losing 20 pounds is okay and can happen with above recommendations in some time.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
