Brief Answer:
Mild to moderate improvement can be seen

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for your question.

The commonly held belief is that myelopathy secondary to spinal cord compression in the cervical spine will not improve following decompression of the spinal cord by cervical laminectomies however I am aware of some unpublished research that does show an improvement in gait following decompression.

Unfortunately there is no medication or treatment to regenerate nerve function although as I have described you may find some moderate improvements in your symptoms after successful complication free cervical decompression. You can expect some of your symptoms to persist however.

I hope this answers your question

Best wishes
