Can kidney failure lead to gynecomastia?

default
Posted on Tue, 3 Nov 2020
Question: Hi, I went to the doctors today about something I felt under my right nipple, and something else which also felt like a small bird seed. The doctor thinks it is probably gynecomastia. I will be sending a blood sample soon to check my hormone levels. I've been reading up about this and I read that one of the reasons this could happen is because of kidney failure. I only have one kidney, which is on my left side. I occasionally get pains in the middle of the left side of my back and in my chest area when I breathe out harshly. This usually happens when I'm anxious, have exercised or just eaten. I also have eczema on my hands, some on lips and a little on my nipples. All of these seep yellow liquid. I know this might sound far-fetched but could it be possible that I have impetigo, which is causing kidney failure which is causing gynecomastia. You help is much appreciated!

Brief Answer:

Gynecomastia

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

"As" per your clinical history is concerned kidney failure is a cause of Gynecomastia but your problem is not kidney failure so your doctor[Urologist] will confirm it by doing a clinical examination, kidney function tests, and ultrasound whole abdomen. So one kidney does not mean kidney failure.

Secondly, do take treatment for skin disorder by [Dermatologist] and it has no pathological connection with your disorder at all.

For your problem follow like this -

1)Do a clinical evaluation by your Doctor[Endocrinologist] and check your s testosterone level. Testicular ultrasounds and Testicular biopsies.to rule out underlying pathological disorders.

2)No treatment is required if such test report is normal and it will resolve within [6month-2 years] so you need a regular checkup every 3 months.

Do follow lifestyle modifications like this -

1)Don't use illegal drugs like steroids and androgens, amphetamines, heroin, and marijuana.

2)Try to avoid alcohol.

3)Review your medications by your treating Doctor if you are taking any.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Brief Answer:

Gynecomastia

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

As per your query is concerned to discuss with your doctor to confirm if you have kidney failure or not by doing investigation only. And in my opinion, you are not a kidney failure patient.

So what you have researched on the internet is not right because there are many pathological causes responsible for it not only kidney failure.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

thank you :) I was also wondering also, my doctor gave me some flucloxacillin 500mg capsules to be taken 4 time per day for my hands as he thought it looked infected. I was wondering if I had something like impetigo, would these tablets help it or would I need to take something stronger
