Can Insect Bite Lead To Sore Throat And Swollen Foot?

default
Posted on Mon, 6 Jul 2015
Question: My 14 yr old son suddenly developed a sore throat and at the same time his right foot began to swell on its arch. He did get stung on that foot while performing yard work today...might this be an allergic reaction to the bug bite/sting?

Brief Answer:
Most likely an allergic reaction!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this sore throat, foot swelling and the bite your son suffered today. I have reviewed the information fully and it is suggestive of a possible allergic reaction. I will like to have an image of the leg for review to make sure there are no looming signs of infection that need immediate attention.

With Benadryl administered, I will recommend that you observe closely for resolution of symptoms. If he’s in severe pain, I recommend you add tylenol to the benadryl. Keep me posted with his progress and so if he’s not improved significantly within 12-24hours.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and do feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
