Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!

Regarding your concern, I would explain that there is not a direct connection between coronary artery disease, high blood pressure and diabetes coupled with chronic sleep apnea.

This means that sleep apnea and diabetes are not a consequence of coronary artery disease and high blood pressure.

But, you should know that diabetes is a known cardio-vascular risk factor. It may exist years before being diagnosed and thus cause chronic changes to the blood vessels leading to coronary artery disease. It can also exacerbate high blood pressure, causing endotelial dysfunction.

Sleep apnea may be related to obstruction of the airways or overweight. Anyway it can lead to an increased risk of high blood pressure and coronary artery disease.

High blood pressure, diabetes and sleep apnea are risk factors for developing coronary artery disease. A better management of these disorders can stop the progression of coronary artery disease.

Besides, obesity, diabetes, sleep apnea, high blood pressure coupled with dyslipidemia and coronary artery disease can be part of the metabolic syndrome.

Hope you will find this answer helpful!

Kind regards,

Dr. Iliri
