Can hormonal IUD cause menstrual irregularities?
Simple copper T is better
Hello dear normal copper T is better and is available for 3,5,10 year duration depending on your need.
Easily available at around 400-700 rupees at all Gynae centres and medical stores.
Hormonal IUD is good but can cause irregular bleeding or complete absence of periods in some patients.
So if it suits you then simple copper T is better.
Hi Mam, to be more elaborate about the other question - was just wondering why it is much expensive than the usual 500 rs for the simple copper T. My OBGYN suggests to go for hormonal since it would cause less bleeding. Can you provide me an opinion on the same pls?
Cost depends on many variables
Actually 500 is just the cost of copper T rest are insertion charges and hospital consumables which cost the hospital.
And as far as hormonal is concerned it involves anaesthesia to insert the device so anaesthetist and anaesthesia drug and consumables also add to the cost.
Ysual cost of hormonal IUCD is 4000-6000 depending on state government charges and vendor charges.
