Brief Answer:
probably GERD

Detailed Answer:
and welcome in HCM.

I gone through your concern.

According to the history you explain in my opinion its not like a heart pain.
GERD usually generate pain in the chest, abdomen or back.
But we have to exclude heart problems and yoiu should do as follows :
Cardiac enzymes

If they come negative your doctor will prescribe you antiacid medications (like Omeprazol ) and you should be careful with foods and not to be stressed as well.
Take care

Brief Answer:
If the pain gets worse go to the ER for medical help

Detailed Answer:
Hi again

The most probability is to be a stomach ache or stress.

Talk with your doctor and explain the situation. He will advice you to do for further examinations of the stomach :
Fibrogastroscopy examinations

And after may be should potentiate the GERD treatment but do not worry so much because this aggravates more the situation.
If the pain gets worse go to the ER for medical help

I wish you a fast recovery

I am a 23 old male who quit smoking cigarettes about two months ago and drink alcohol only really on the weekends. I have a re-occuring pain in my upper stomach/sternum area and it feels like I have been punched in the stomach. It does not see to help to go to the bathroom or take pepto bismol or tums. It does not seem like gas or heartburn , and it happens randomly, not after a meal often so it doesnt seem like indigestion. I realize I need to see my doctor but is there any tests I can do at home or something I can do to help the pain?

I have been on prednisone for almost a year for Hashimoto s Encephalopathy and just finally took my last dose last week. I am a 51yr. old female, 5 ft. about 200 pounds. I have a small hiatal hernia and GERD . I have been taking two 20mgs priloesec twice a day for that last 9 months and haven t had much heartburn and now since I stopped taking the prednisone I have been experiencing a burning sensation in my stomach after eating. I thought it odd that I would have this after stopping the prednisone. My doctor said to also take Zantac but it doesn t seem to help. Why would I suddenly have this burning (it doesn t usually burn in my chest) now that I ve stopped the prednisone. Can Prilosec stop working? Should I try something else?

I accidentally swallowed a quarter while playing a game of quarters last night which is a drinking game. I felt fine until I woke up today with chest pain . I went to the hospital and the doctor said the pain is probably just coming from the drinking and the quarter will pass naturally. I find it highly unlikely that the pain is not being cause by the quarter somehow. Is it possible that the quarter scratched the bottom of my esophagus some how and now excess stomach acid from drinking last night is giving me heart burn and that s what I m feeling? The pain was at about a 6 or 7 earlier and now has gone down to about a 2 or 3. It seems to be affected by different things I swallow as well. Milk and water seem to ease the pain. I tried eating a banana and that made the pain so bad I couldn t finish it. That s the only thing I ve eaten.
