Can Gonorrhea Be Contracted Through Oral Sex?

default
Posted on Mon, 4 Jan 2016
Question: Hello doctor.
At the first of September I received oral sex from a girl. A few days later I started experiencing a dull pain and strange sensations in my penis. Also redness on the head. I went to a few doctors but they said it wasn't nothing to worry about. This kept on and on October 27th two or so tiny bumps appeared ride under the rim of the head of my penis. They all touched one another sort of forming a single bump. It would hurt very mildly ever now and then. Most of the time I was just notice a feeling down there, not really pain.
I went to the doctor and got tested and had a swab done for herpes on the day they appeared. Tests came back and said I had gonorrhea but the herpes test was negative. I got treated and the gonorrhea went away. But the bumps didn't and I continued having the same symptoms. Some days I wouldn't feel a thing other times I would get a slight pain that wouldn't last long and sometimes the area felt a bit raw. I had 4 doctors look at t and they all say it isn't herpes.
So far I have taken two different pills and applied two different prescription creams on it and it hasn't went away. Sometimes I go a day or so without feeling nothing but then I'll feel the symptoms again. And two or so weeks ago a pinkish area formed under the rim of the head of my pebis on the opposite side, with two flat dots beneath it. They haven't hurt or anything. I have had tingling sensations in the head of my penis. Other symptoms have been muscle aches in my buttocks that's only lasted a few days. It's been over 6 weeks now and everything is still going the same.
I'm worried it's herpes and that I'm just having very mild symptoms. No medicine seems to be working and I just don't know what else it could be. The bumps haven't changed in look at all and are very tiny and flesh color. No severe pain, only weird sensations, a sort of raw feeling and sometimes a mild pain that doesn't last long. What could it be

Mild dermatitis

You recieved oral sex and from that exposure you contracted Gonorrhea. This was treated but you still have red bumps that appear on your penis. All your tests so far do not indicate herpes. This is real good since the screening test for herpes is very specific. From your description I would consider this to be a simple skin irritation . You have dermatitis. Perhaps the skin has become sensitized and you develop these bumps. I would recommend a trial of topical steroid cream like hydrocortisone every other day and see if that helps stop the bumps from forming. this type of reaction is common and turns out to be a chronic problem. If the over the counter hydrocortisone does not work then ask your doctor for triamcinolone cream which is more powerful.

Good Luck

So are you saying with me having gonorrhea for so long could have made the skin on my penis very sensitive and turned to dermatitis? This type if thing is a normal reaction to gonorrhea?

Brief Answer:
GC did not cause the sensitive skin

Detailed Answer:
I am not saying the GC is causing your sensitive skin issue. The sensitive skin just happens and we never find the actual cause of this issue. All we know is that treatment intermittently with a low potency steroid cream will help control the issue

I have tried fluocinonide usp .05% and clotrimazole and betamethasone dipropionate cream so far abd it hasnt helped at all. Both were prescribed to me. The pills i have taken are azithromycin 500mg and doxy-cycline hyc 100mg. None if these prescriptions have worked. After taking all these medicines and none of them working is what led me to think that it is a mild outbreak of herpes. Ive only had one swab test done but it was not done on an open lesion, but on the bumps that have went unchanged for 6 weeks

Brief Answer:
need to test HSV with an open lesion

Detailed Answer:
Next time you get a lesion you need to present yourself at the doctor's office and have them swap the lesion. If there is a blister it should be opened and the fluid tested for HSV.

You might ask your medical provider to treat you empirically for HSV by giving you acyclovir daily. If you do not get any lesions then it is possible it is Herpes. If you do then for sure it is not herpes.

So with all that i have described and all the symptoms that i have had, does it sound like a mild case of herpes or could it still be something else? Thanks so kuch for your time

Brief Answer:
Possible herpes

Detailed Answer:
After getting all your information I am more inclined to believe you may have herpes. The best way to diagnose the herpes is to get the culture during an outbreak. Or just proceed with treatment and see if they stop the lesions.

I can't think of any other disease that maybe giving you your symptoms.
