Brief Answer:
Need to take Oral antihistamines e.g cetrizine Or Loratadine for 7-10 days

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us

I have gone through your query and I have understood your concern.

Hives Or Acute Urticaria presents as skin welts, redness and itching.
Acute urticaria is usually develops as a reaction to allergens that may be present in food and food preservatives, drugs (like antibiotics, pain killers, multivitamins etc), viral infections like flu and common cold may also have urticaria. Patients who are allergic/ atopic Or have a history of eczemas are prone to urticaria/ hives to various environmental allergens.
However in about 50-60% of urticaria patients there may not be any identifiable cause i.e it is idiopathic.
Patients with H. pylori infections can also have urticaria, but that is usually chronic urticaria.
I won't suggest any blood work at present as acute urticaria is usually self limiting. Majority of patients of acute urticaria resolve with a few days of treatment (7-14 days) with oral antihistamines. Treatment is symptomatic. Oral antihistamines e.g cetrizine Or loratadine Or fexofenadine, once or twice daily for a week or 10 days is all that is required. Benadryl is also fine but it short acting therefore patients may be required to take it 3-4 times/ day for relief and moreover it is also sedating.
Oral steroids are indicated only for acute severe urticaria as an episodic treatment. I don't think you require Oral steroids.

Brief Answer:
I suggest symptomatic treatment with oral antihistamines for 7-14 days

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

Thank you for additional details.
Food items like nuts, peanuts, eggs, shellfish, and tomatoes, berries etc can cause urticaria. However, not all cases of urticaria are necessarily due to food allergy. It can also happen in response to drugs/ medicines for different medical conditions, viral cold/ flu, house dust mites, animal dander etc. Moreover, there may not be an identifiable cause for Acute Urticaria in as many as 50-70% of cases i.e it is idiopathic.
You need to take symptomatic treatment for 7-14 days with Oral antihistamines e.g either cetrizine Or loratadine, once or twice daily and hopefully it shoud resolve. I will not ask you to take oral steroids.

Brief Answer:
Any drug can cause urticaria

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

Any drug can cause urticaria including pantoprazole.
Hives is a rare but known side effect of pantoprazole. Side effects of a drug/ medication can appear after days into therapy.
Your hives come back at night probably because your are taking bendadryl during the day and because benadryl is a short acting drug, its effect vanes in 4-6 hours.
You need to take a longer acting antihistamine e.g cetrizine Or loratadine whose effect lasts for 12-24 hours.

Brief Answer:
Symptomatic treatment wit Oral cetrizine for a week, twice daily

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

Ok.
My advice to you would be to take an otc oral antihistamine e.g cetrizine 10 mg twice daily, for 7-10 days. Alternatively you may take loratadine 10 mg twice daily.
Topically you may use a soothing anti-itch lotion e.g calamine.
If urticaria returns even after completing a week of oral antihistamine treatment, you might have to contemplate stopping pantoprazole after discussing with your doctor.
