Posted on Wed, 30 Nov 2016
Question: I changed my diet a bit and started taking Fish oil. About how soon should my triglycerides change? I would like to get another blood test but no sense in it if there hasn't been time for it to moderate.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!

Regarding your concern, I would recommend repeating the blood lipid profile after a month from the start of the fish oil, in order to see any changes.

Then, repeating the test every 3 months will be sufficient, if a slight decrease in triglycerides is revealed by this test.

Hope you will find this answer helpful!

Kind regards,

Dr. Iliri
