Brief Answer:
NO, this cannot be from the esophageal spasm and GERD!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this blood in your stool. I have reviewed your information fully and this cannot be cause by a problem high up in the esophagus or stomach. if blood were to originate from here, it would have been fully digested and would appear black and not bright red.

Blood in stools is often caused by constipation. This is because the hard stools cause abrasion and bleeding. The best way to tackle this would be to increase vegetable, fruits and fluid intake. Exercises also help. If these fail, then try drugs for constipation like miralax, lactose, etc.

At 62, have you had the chance to do a screening colonosocopy already? If you have never done one, please talk to your gastroenterologist to consider doing so. This way, we would look directly into the big intestines to understand what other possible causes of this constipation and blood could be.

If the blood loss is too much, please you may want to vista your doctor sooner than later. I will also recommend iron tablets to supplement for the blood loss that can lead to anemia.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and do feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
