Brief Answer:
Yes, cold can cause swollen lymph nodes..

Detailed Answer:
Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain as you have cold that is a Viral infection along with swollen and tender lymph nodes..

Well it is commonly seen that Viral infection or cold can cause submandibular and/or Submental lymph nodes to swell and become tender..

As the infection will subside gradually the swollen lymph nodes will also return to normal..

As of now you can take a supportive therapy to ease off your symptoms like Ibuprofen to relieve pain, decongestants like Pseudoephadrine, anti allergics like Levocetrizine..
Do steam inhalation..
Sip on plenty of warm water..

Any further questions are welcome..

Wishing you a good health..

Thanks and regards.

Swelling seems to go down and the up again in the morning. Does coughing at night or snoring cause that? How long does it take to go away? Cold seems a little better but lingering.

Brief Answer:
Not due to snoring or coughing, but due to viral infection only..

Detailed Answer:
Hi..
Welcome Again..

As per your complain the swollen lymph nodes that seems to go down and recur in morning is all due to viral infection only and snoring and coughing are secondary to infection..
There might be congestion in nose or you have a mouth breathing habit and both can lead to snoring..
Do not worry as gradually when the infection will subside the lymph nodes will also gradually completely regress and you will be perfectly fine..

Any further queries are welcome..

Wishing you a good health..

Thanks and regards..

Brief Answer:
Warm compresses can be relieving, take medicines..

Detailed Answer:
Hi..
Welcome Again..

As per your query, do not get nervous as I have already seen the attachments before answering you and it seems to be simply viral infection..
It can take a week or at times even longer to resolve..
The swollen lymph nodes can even take a longer time and can even persist a few days more even after the symptoms of infection subside..
So I would advise you genuinely that do not worry as there seems nothing serious and it is a regular viral infection..
You can do warm compresses over lymph nodes as it will be soothing..
Sip on plenty of warm water and other warm fluids..
Steam inhalations and warm saline gargles shall be continued..
And above all "RELAX"...
Everything is alright and you are perfectly fine and will get relieved soon..

In case if you still have any doubts, you are most welcome, I am always there to help!!

Wishing you a good health..

Thanks and regards.
