Can Avoiding Washing The Leg After A Dog Bite Cause Any Infection?
Question: Hi , I was bitten by a stray dog. Though it was from above my jeans still I got a small mark on my leg with little blood coming out. At that time I didn't notice but went to have the first doze of Rabipur with tetnus after 5 hours. Further, I forgot to wash the area which I washed next day. I already had my 2nd doze on 3rd day. Just want to check if it is okay to not washed my leg and went for 1st doze after 5 hours.

Washing is required as first aid because the virus if at all present may be still there at wound site and washing the area not very effective but till certain limit it works. But even with washing, Rabies vaccination is necessary.
But as you have not washed the wound but taken anti rabies vaccines and even tetanus injection and forgot to wash the wound, its totally fine. You are well protected against Rabies.
Just complete the full course of vaccination without missing any dose.
Washing is just primary aid, but anti rabies vaccine is must. So don't worry you will be still protected and do not have danger of getting the infection.

Thanks doctor for the nice answer. I was very anxious if I have delayed anything. Additionally, I want to ask that from past few days I am feeling very tiredness and weakness and it is happening after I had my 1st doze. Is it common to have such symtoms.

Anti rabies vaccines do have common symptoms just as you mentioned alongwith nausea, headache and muscle pains and all. But they are not serious side effects.
Any given time the benefits of vaccine are more than the side effects so you will have to bear with it.
But it will go away once the acute effect goes down. Till then don't do any heavy work or tiring jobs.
It will go away with time.
