Can Aspirated Mucinex Pill Cause Any Side Effects?

Question: It is possible that my 94 y/ o dad aspirated hos mucinex pill. He choked on it i did hymlec and he started coughing but nothing came out. He hacked u a bunch of mucus. If ha did aspirated the pill can it be harmful to him? Ps he has myesthenia gravis

I am so sorry to hear of what happened to your father. I am sure he didn't aspirate this tablet. Some water might have gotten into the respiratory pathway and not this tablet. He would have presented with persistent coughing and breathing difficulties.

With myasthenia gravis, swallowing can be very difficult. Work with a physical therapist to help teach him how to better coordinate when swallowing to avoid choking that could turn out fatal in some cases.
