Can An Injection To The SI Joint Cause Hip Pain?

default
Posted on Mon, 23 Mar 2015
Question: Can an SI joint affect hip? I had little reason for injection in first place ( typical guinea pig) my hip was fine until injection. Unfortunately drs are still ignoring two surgeries and treating for MVA. No more, but I can't understand how my perfectly normal hip could be in such pain. MRI shows SI ok and hip was.

Brief Answer:
SI joint pain can radiate to hip joint

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have studied your case. I believe than you are having hip problem which was wrongly diagnosed as SI joint issue and injection was given. But before I advised you any thing I would like to know little detail about your illness.
1. Since when you are having hip pain? Is it more on back side or front side?
2.Are you having any difficulty in squatting, sitting at floor or using stairs?
3.Please send me MRI report of your hip joint?
I am waiting for your reply. I will try my best to help you.
thanks

I have to have someone read it. 1 1/2 hrs of MRI and radiologist showed very little; it's so easy to just think I'm an old lady; four years , four surgeries ( hysterectomy was only one I decided was right)?
Hip pain was after SI injection. Afterwards, MRI and failed SPECT showed hip ok, SI ok. Inject and drugs for four years.
It's hard to explain where but it is mostly at joint; I have a "rock" I've had for at least two years located at tailbone area. Nobody will address except to say it's fatty tissue. I cannot get anyone to check any more. How can a very active, healthy person be so misunderstood; drugged w/o looking at symptoms? If you look back, you will see I've been asking questions for so long because I cany get anyone to understand or check.
If a friend saw me today, it would be shocking. I told my hidband if I can't get medical attention, lock me up.
MRI was so short; why? And radioactive material injected for CT pooled yet, dr said SI. I wouldn't waste your time. I got lost four years ago; allowed to have unnecessary surgery and drugs and injections. Too far gone to expect help.
I do want to know if there are radiologists who can be hired to check films? I don't know why I keep trying.

Brief Answer:
You need to take psychiatrist opinion

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have studied your case and I think that your symptoms are combination of depression and your hip pain. Since your MRI report is showing normal hip and SI joint.
I would recommend you to show it to a psychiatrist and take care of your depression and anxiety. As far as your pain is concened I do not think you should get any more surgery or injection right now.
You can take help of physiotherapy, Hot water ofmentation and LS belt. These are supportive measures and none of them have any side effect. If you will take painkillers they can cause kidney damage. So avoid it. Safest pain killer you can take in emergency is Tramadol.
I hope this answer will be useful for you.Let me know if there is any other followup questions.
thanks

I certainly understand how you would get to the diagnosis you did; however, you don't understand that I went 20 months after surgery only being treated as a Chronic Pain patient. Trust me, I am not nuts. The psychiatrist I saw at Mayo said "Err on side of searching" because he heard the nightmare of being lost in the cracks; dismissed after MVA, and OPIATES. I am off opiates;I am sorry you don't believe me, but, only those who know me; understand me, know that I have been on the end of such awful negligence. Again, I was given up to 8 percocet/day PLUS fentynol because nobody wanted to deal with this. Depression? Off and on. I can stay totally immobile and be without pain; not even think about it; but, colorectal disaster and infection was still treated as Chronic Pain. I will go to the top of the medical profession in XXXXXXX to see nobody gets this treatment; again, I can see your wanting me to see a Psychiatrist. I would never believe the four year journey. Thanks anyway.

I did not have hip pain until injection. The pain is at the joint. The doctor who did the injection was addressing issues that were not even an issue - back pain from MVA. Since then, the disastrous colorectal surgery; infection, abdomen full of mesh was reported for 20 months (military) and, still, drugs. I left Mayo off of opiates; returned home, pain increased after mesh over intestines; rather than try to see the problem, doctor added fentynol. By the way, 4 doctors at the military hospital "were allowed to retire early." Makes you wonder. I have reported to the Inspector General - I will make a difference, and, no, I'm not nuts. Besides, I'm seeing a Psychiatrist - know what he said after I requested to be safely withdrawn off of Xanax that was handed to me, again, like candy.....drugs are my business. You think XXXXXXX doctors walk on water. In this state, a doctor can get away with unbelievable negligence because they are protected. I'd say anger, rather than depression, because, I have records, facts, to substantiate everything. I will get better and I will see to it that at least one person NEVER goes through this. XXXXXXX medicine. Not in XXXXXXX Thank you, kindly.

Young. Uninformed drs are part of my problem. I had one surgery (hysterectomy/bladder sling) then a repair of it - one surgery required another. I mistakenly trusted the colorectal surgeon, who, by the way, is on his third practice; under investigation. He sent me home w/an infection hence hernia repair so I am the product of very lousy drs. If you will note. I was prescribed up to 8 Percocet per day plus, after surgery, Fentynol was prescribed. I requested safe withdrawal and am no longer on opiates. I was also prescribed 4 mg Xanax; again, requested safe withdrawal (Psychiatrist who would give me anthubgbI wanted) I am down to 3 mg which I use only if the pain is so extreme so be careful how you judge. You are my first bad experience with this site as you assumed I am at fault. I write to this site for education because healthcare is lacking; nobody wants to deal w oth mess drs created. I hope you learn from the more experienced Drs on site. Some have led me to su guest certain things to.my dr. You judged me w/o facts. And. Tests are as good as dr who reads them. You are biased; XXXXXXX healthcare has gotten so bad and Army Drs are to get patients in and out - numbers not quality. I wish you could see my reports-8 mos w/o provider so caseworker took calls; gave meds. You have much to learn and would fit right in here. I'll let inexperience and ignorance pass. As I told a young dr at Mayo, I won't report you because of youth, but get your nose out of the air and take your oath seriously. What surgeon di dvto me is unconscionable; he will pay in the end. I can't XXXXXXX but I will go to all measures to see he doesn't put a knife to anyone. I don't know what meds you are talking. about; I changed when I withdrew from opiates handed out to cover symptoms; if I hadn't asked to get off of them, I'd still be given it like candy; the American/Texas way. No dr will touch me because of the mess surgeon caused. So, I'd suggest you think before you judge. I am a mother of three successful adults; I served beside my husband for 35 years in the Army; a General's wife who was on the go. I was rear ended; and sent to hormone replacement for back pain. Drs have injected over and over w/o reading films. If my spine is so good. Why the carelessness? Money. I don't take lightly. That a very healthy person has been mangled by a dr and you need to listen to the person who writes w/o judging. I can't rate you more than a one star because your answer was ignorant. I hope I help you see your ridiculous judgment. Yes, my condition sounds like a NTT case and that is because I have been lost in cracks; had 3 up necessary surgeries. I absolutely trust no dr in this city. Drs move here because it's hard to sue; suing was not for mr; getting back to my exercising, playing w/grandchildren, doing for others - that is who I was. No dr will put blame on another and n
few have had experience I have. God and only God pushes me to find reliable source. And, FYI, tests don't show everything and. At 63 I was in great shape, but you assume it's all Psychiatric. I'm fortunate it isn't. I've wasted enough time on you. Affair, you are the first to be so judge mental. Every dr on site has tried. You failed - big time. Hope.you gain knowledge as I would not want you for my dr.

Brief Answer:
You should doing right by tapering xanax.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I am really sorry if I hurt you. I felt really sad after reading your case and I was trying my best to help you. As you have already gone through multiple procedures. So I was advising you against any injetion or any surgery for pain relief.
In such cases A patient should avoid taking pain killers or sedative for long time as hey all have addictive potential.. As you told me that you are decreasing xanax so it is good thing you are doing.
When I was asking you to consult psychitrist, It was not because I thaught you are psycho, rather You can discuss with him If he can suggest you some medicine for chronic painful conditions with very little ause potential and minimum sde effects.
You are also doing good thing by taking vitamins and Calcium. You an also use hot water fomentation, light exercises such as swimmng for good effect.
And I want to admit that I learned a lot from your case. You are relly a brave woman.
thanks

Thank you. I hope you understand I requested getting of OPIATES or I'd still be on them. Four years on, to some, getting off is a big deal. But, for some reason it wasn't that hard because I had already started a lower dose. It's important doctors not toss drugs at patients.
Yes, surgeries were because of failure of other surgeries; I had no colorectal issues whatsoever; never had issues; the doctor failed me; I have to move on. And, I won't have another injection; surgery, unless someone can find the exact root of pain. Thank you for writing back and please understand, at first I trusted doctors; injections, you name it. I never trusted the drugs which made it easier to get off. I wish you the best and thank you for allowing me to clarify. I know Xanax is not good but do you think the doctor who prescribed it told me? Thank God my Son is knowledgeable and insistent I withdraw. It's unfortunate the Psychiatrist was going to up the dose - but, healthcare in my case has been hit or miss. I ramble. Your site has been the best available for information because here one isn't given time to explain and now, nobody wants to go near me. I'm trying new diet so that I don't have so much pain in colon; such a shame, but, I've been in touch with a doctor on your site who has endured a lot of pain himself yet he treats his patients like he treated me - with patience and information that is sound. Taking a beating from me may just be good for you - I've tried to help the younger doctors who tend to see someone my age (I don't look old - smile) and decide I'm not worth their time. I will say, anyone who believes the negligence I write about has a right to recommend a Psychiatrist......but, I speak the truth and my integrity is still with me. My best to you. Just reply "my best" or whatever, so I can let you get on with your business and rate you. If I could find a doctor from XXXXXXX based on my encounter with this site, believe me, I would. My best to you.
