Can An Aneurysm Of The Brain Cause Memory Loss?

Posted on Wed, 12 Sep 2018
Question: I had an MRI 2 days ago and it showed an aneurysm on my brain. The reason for the MRI was 2 months ago I lost my memory with hours of blocked time. One minute on checking recent calls and 5 hours later I,m getting pulled over for a DUI. Dont remember how or why I was in my car at 1:30 am only remember seeing police lights behind me. After I bail out from being arrested for DUI on 10,000 bail, my son had called paramedics who were waiting for me by my door. Don,t recall talking to him at all. Only remember them drawing blood, that,s all. Was that the cause of losing blocks of time for a good 24 hours was due to an aneruysm in brain? No headachs either. Blood work from hospital came back with nothing unusual either. Case may be dismissed.

Brief Answer:

The mere presence of an aneurysm will not cause memory disturbances.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

The mere presence of an aneurysm for not cause memory disturbances of sudden onset in the absence of other symptoms.

Any vascular event like bleeding/rupture of an aneurysm is associated with such disturbances.

I would be able to provide you with more information if you upload the reports of MRI on our website " upload reports" column.

Likewise, it's important to monitor your blood sugar levels and blood pressure levels under control.

It's also advisable to screen yourself for cardiac disease through following tests like 2D echocardiogram and bilateral carotid Doppler.

Hope I have answered your query.

Take care
