Question: Hi,

My 8 year daughter was suffering from Fever before 5 days and fever was there only for 1 day only.

Other symptom
1) fever was there only for 1 day
2) There is slight running nose
3) We did a CBC test and IPF is in higher range.

from CBC test it seems IPF value is 11.30.

It seems its higher than the normal limit. Please let me know if 11:30 IPF will create any problem.
Do we need to do Dengue test also because of Increased IPF

Brief Answer:
Please upload the report

Detailed Answer:
Hi....

I can understand your concern. Can you please upload the report?

What are the other symptoms apart from fever your child is having?

How is the activity of the child when the fever comes down and also how is the urine output?

Awaiting...

Brief Answer:
Suggestions on IPF

Detailed Answer:
Hi... you need not worry about this increased IPF because the platelets are adequate. Most importantly there are no bleeding manifestations and the child is on the recovery path.

This looks like a viral illness. Even if it is Dengue I will tell you what to look for.

In dengue fever, rather than platelet count...most important things are -

1. Swelling and water accumulation all over the body.
2. Decreased urine output
3. Respiratory distress
4. Seizures
5. Regarding lab tests - PCV or Hematocrit is more important than platelet count. If it is above 38 and the kid is not drinking water well, we need to hospitalize and start intravenous fluids.

What you need to do is - watch for the above danger signs and if they develop rush to nearest emergency room.

Regards - Dr. Sumanth
