Can Alcoholic Liver Disease Causes Anemia?

Question: complains of general weakness ,cough since 15-20 days .Diagnosed Iron deficiecny anemia in k/o alcoholic liver disease .During hospital stay ,treated with iv antibiotics ,iv Vitamin K,Thiamine injections and blood transfusion .
Q.whether to co-relate anemia with alcoholic liver disease

Alcohol liver disease can lead to iron deficiency anemia by causing GI bleed. It can occurr fron oesophagus from varix, from stomach from varix and portal hypertensive gastropathy or from colon due to colopathy. Other type of anemia due to alcohol liver disease is die to vitamin deficiency and by causing hemolysis but these are different type of anemia from iron deficiency.

This GI blees can be confirmed by doing endoscopy examination.
