Can A Clean Stomach And Journey Of 2 Hours Cause Any Problem For Colonoscopy?

Question: my husband is having a colonscopy on Tuesday. Monday he starts clear liquid diet and takes 238 grams of MiraLax at 2 in the afternoon. At 5 a.m. Tuesday morning takes Magnesium Citrate. I am assuming he will be all cleaned out by then. His appt. is 10:15 but the colonscopy will be done 2 hours from where we live. Will he be cleaned out and able to make a 2 hour drive by 8 a.m. Tuesday morning without major problems? HELP

Brief Answer:
Yes...but observe closely!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am happy to know your husband would be getting his colonoscopy done. For whatever reasons(routine or illness), I wish him the very best of all possible outcomes.

Yes, he should be completely washed out by 8am. However, clients may respond differently and you should be able to tell from the frequency of his episodes after taking the magnesium citrate . Should there be incomplete emptying, this will not be in in the form of frequent bowel urges that would interrupt a journey completely. At most 2stools on a two hours drive if he fails to completely empty the bowels by the time you leave home.

You may also want to give the Magnesium citrate a little earlier like 3 or 4am. This will take away any concerns as to whether he would be able to empty completely or not. Please, this will not in any way affect the quality of his colon preparation and would not affect the quality of his results.

I hope this helps. I wish you and your husband well. feel free to ask for more information and clarification if need be. Thanks so much for using our services.
