Brief Answer:
Welcome to HCM

Detailed Answer:
Good morning! I realize you have made the decision to lose weight, but may I ask why? You are 5'3" with a BMI of 21, which according to our standardized charts, is optimal. I cannot recommend that you lose weight only maintain weight.

This query does not tell me where you are, but if of Asian descent you want your BMI less than 23 and if non-Asian you want your BMI below 25. Now yours is borderline underweight from anyones standpoint. Do you mainly just need to tone up?

By the way, the company did not send me any location, any info on diagnosis, or even why you want to lose weight, so I know basically nothing about you. No one can give an educated opinion and not know anything about the patient. Somehow your records never came through.

Regardless, you are on medications that may interact with grapefruit juice which is in slimquick. So, my opinion is that- with all the medications you are on with a potential for a drug interaction if you add anything over the counter, the fact that you do not need to lose an ounce-tells me that Slimquick is not necessary nor is weight loss.

Many drugs interact with grapefruit compounds (in Slimquick) and if it isn't that product, you may have another trouble with another product. Use exercise (work around mobility problems), healthy eathing habits, adequate calories without sugar or sugary beverages. Stress maintaining weight, not losing.

All goals should be Realistic, Achievable and Maintainable. I wish you all the luck in the world and feel free to write me back as you have followup questions available. Tell me more about you, why you think you need to lose weight, why all the medications (tell me how you take your levothyroxine-with food or not, etc) and if you take any supplements and your diagnosis. I know the doctor in one of your XXXXXXX questions mentioned doing this - writing down as much as you can to give us a total medical scenario.

I encourage you to write me and tell me these issues and we can discuss more thoroughly. Thank you - and I am on Eastern Standard Time in US. I was not given your location, can you tell me where you are from, please?

Thank you so much. I look forward to talking with you more about your concerns.

Oh, and I know what YOUR medications are for, but doctors give them for differing conditions. Is the cymbalta for depression pain or both, for example.

Have a wonderful day until I hear from you again. XXXXXXX J. Shattler, MS,RDN, Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, Adult Specialist
