Can Valacyclovir Help Cure Shingles?

Question: I came down with shingles on XXXXXXX 11. I was taking valacyvivir 1000g 3x a day. I finish taking the antiviral drug last week the rash has not completely gone. My dr said the rash will resolve. Is there anything I can do now.?

Hi,

Healing will continue and no medications are needed for this. If you are still in pain, pain management should continue. Cleansing this area with water and soap water is enough to ensure continued healing and keep the area sterile. Unless something else comes up, there is no need for further specific wound care at this point.
