Can Triquilar Be Taken Instead Of Seasonique Without Any Side Effects?
Question: Hi, I have had a lot of spotting taking Seasonique, would I be better to switch back to Triquilar?

You could take tablet duphaston which is a form of progesteron for ten days with the seasonique.
This will stabilise the lining of the womb and prevent spotting.
If there is no releif even with this, then you can go back to triquilar. It can take a few months to settle down with Seasonale.

Thank you so much, if I was to switch straight back to the Triquilar now would there be less chane of spotting? I have been taking the Seasonique for 6 days.
I am in Canada, I assume that duphaston would be accessible here as well? I do take Prozac so any conflicts with those medications?

Hi there,
The progesterone content of Triquilar in the first week of the Triquilar pack is lower than Seasonique, so the spotting might continue or increase. As progesterone hormone is the main hormone responsible maintaining the lining of the womb and prevent spotting.
Prozac will not have any drug interaction with the Seasonique or triquilar, so you can safely continue it.
Duphaston 10 mg once a day for next ten days will be a safe option for you.
Duphaston is easily available, but if its not then you can take a pack of Cerazette (progesterone only contraceptive pill) and take one pill a day for the next 10 days along with the Seasonique. But continue the Seasonique.
As it's only 6 days since you have started, the spotting is a known side effect and you should continue the Seasonique for atleast one whole pack to see if it suits you or not.
Usually by the second pack most women settle down and have no spotting.
The advantage of Seasonique is bleeding every 84 days which is a great advantage, but it takes time to settle down on it.
