As you may be knowing like other diseases the real cause of SLE is not known as of now.
The research says that it is an autoimmune disorder and like any other Autoimmune disorders its treatment is complex.
Moreover it affects various system eg Skin, CNS, Cardiovascular system etc so to treat a disease which involves multiple system it may be not so easy. But to some extent the disease can be controlled by newer drugs that are available now.
Though once disease involves multiple system its treatment can not be totally curative.
Though it is easier to tackle if it only involves Skin (Lupus).
Yes you need to undergo regular checkup and take proper medical advice so that disease can be controlled better.

As you are taking medication for SLE the constipation may be related to the same.
Or else the common cause of constipation is lack of enough roughage in the diet and lack of adequate hydration so please try to rectify these causes which is simple to do.
:-1 Take plenty of green leafy vegetables and pulses .
2.Take fruits with skin (unpeeled) eg XXXXXXX Grapes and Guava etc
3.Take plenty of fluid that includes water, soup etc
4You may also take lots of salads regularly
And you should walk too (as one of main cause of constipation is sedentary habits)
with these common procedures followed diligently you can avoid the problem.
Or else consult your family physician for this
