Question: HELLO,
LOOKING FOR DRUG INTERACTIONS WITH RITALIN. WANT TO GIVE 11 YEAR OLD SON IBUPROFEN AND DELSYM 12 HOUR COUGH/COLD WITH THE RITALIN. IS THIS OKAY?

Hi,

Thanks for writing to us.

Please note that Ritalin (methylphenidate) is a central nervous system stimulant. This drug of course has interaction with many other group of drugs. However can be safely taken with Ibuprofen and Delsym (Dextromethorphan). There is no established drug interaction between them. Can be taken safely.

Apart from drug therapy here are few advise to combat cold and cough:
1. Steam Inhalation
2. Warm saline water gargling thrice daily
3. One spoon of honey with 2 drops of lemon added can be given to the kid.
