Brief Answer:
Avoidance of the instigating or enhancing factors is the key

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query, albeit short and specific.
Since you are a known case of IBS that is irritable bowel syndrome, anything can instigate or enhance the cramping, diarrhea and such symptoms. Red licorice is not an exception. It is the close observation of what one eats and drinks that enhance or instigate the symptoms and stops altogether is part of the management of IBS.
You have to make a practical list of the foods, beverages and such things that one consumes which instigate or enhance the problems and stop these things altogether.
Imodium is certainly not the drug of choice in IBS to stop diarrhea. It is better to take prescription based medicines from your Doctor or a Gastroenterologist for IBS which controls the cramps, diarrhea and also helps to relieve the stress and anxiety which is usually a basic cause of IBS.
Fractured 11 the rib can not cause any abdominal symptoms other that sensitive skin superficially in the region of its nerve.
Control of or avoidance of the factors that cause anxiety and/or stress is one of the best ways to control IBS.
And last but not the least: one should have normal reports of stool, blood, urine, colonoscopy and CT scan of abdomen to say that one is suffering from IBS.

I hope this answer helps you.
