Detailed Answer:
It can take up-to 6-8 weeks after an abortion, and once you take the plan B, it may further make your next period irregular.
Best is to use condoms until your proper period ,when you can start with birth control.

I feel like I might be about to get my period. Will the plan B still push it back? Condems really aren't working for my partner and I and I'm eager to get on a more effective form of birth control. Is it very pivotal to wait till I get my period to start the other birth control? The doctor who prescribed it said I could start it right away if I wanted to, I could just have some adnormal bleeding. I wanted to wait to avoid that but I REALLY don't want to get pregnant again.

Detailed Answer:
You could have started right away, immediately post the abortion.
Yes the plan B Would further push back your period.
If you are really desperate, start off the birth control post the plan B, but do expect some very irregular and unpredictable bleeding.

Since this last message I actually got my period (yay). So, now that its here should I still take the plan B and then start birth control after my period or if I start the birth control tomorrow would it take the place of the plan B?
thank you in advance for all the help. I've felt very alone in this and you've been helpful

Thank you for the appreciation.
Its great that you actually got your period.
That simplifies matters considerably ( XXXXXXX what a relief ! ).
No need to take the plan B now.
Just start taking the birth control from day 5 of your period.
What brand have you been used to taking ?
