Can Phenergan Be Given To An Infant For Travel Sedation?

Question: Can i give phenergan to a 14 month old baby for travel sedation? I have an extremely unsettled, temper tantrum prone 14 month old baby and am traveling from australia to europe (16 hours+ flight time) and am wondering if i can give her phenergan to calm her for the flight, or alternatively anything else?

Phenargan which is an antihistaminic due to its sedative action can be safley be given to baby to calm baby during flight. Do ensure adequate feeds and nutrition to the baby during flight.
Triclofos is a better alternative.

Ok. But i read on the back of the bottle it should not be given to children under 2 years. What dosage ahould i give her for sedation she is 14 months and weighs 10kg. I have also read online that phenergan can be linked with SIDS for kids under 2 .

Majority of Pediatrician routinely use Promethazine in their clinical practice for children even under 2 years of age.
The dosage of 1mg per kilograms of body weight. The dosage for ten kg will be 10mg per dose not to exceed 2 doses a day.
