Can Norinyl-1 Be Taken Safely Instead Of Levlen?

default
Posted on Thu, 2 Jun 2016
Question: Hi there,
I was wondering can switching from level 30 to norinyl-1 cause me not to get a period? I've been on sugar pills for 7 days now and still don't have it. Very unusual for me. Thanks!

Furthermore to the previous question- I took the levlen to the 7th sugar pill then started the other one. I've skipped a period with it so I've been on active pills for about 2 months. I thought this would mean I'd be more likely to get my period? So I haven't had one for about 2 months. I'm feeling really bloated, my breasts are really tender and I'm really tired. I assumed this was the new pill but now I'm worried I could be pregnant. The thing is my partner has had a vasectomy so surely it's impossible???

Brief Answer:
no chance of pregnancy

Detailed Answer:
Hi there,
Welcome to HCM,

Decrease in flow and irregularity of periods is common when changing the type of contraceptive. It is very very unlikely for you to be pregnant.

Taking the active pills continuously may cause the period to be slightly delayed. You should wait for your period for a weeks time without taking any medications.

But if your partner has had a vasectomy and it's been atleast four months since the vasectomy, and his semen analysis post vasectomy informs absence of sperms, you need not take the contraceptive pills. ( This is assuming that you are taking the pills for contraception And not some other medical purpose).

Hope this helps.
Regards.
