Brief Answer:
Escitalopram usually takes about 4-8 weeks to show its effect

Detailed Answer:
Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries

I can understand your concern. Dicorate is Disodium Valproate and the drug is a mood stabiliser drug. Olimelt is Olanzapine and the drug is an antipsychotic drug also used in mood stabilisation. Both drugs are commonly used in mood disorders and also in depression. Nexito is Escitalopram and the drug is an antidepressant drug. His depressive symptoms are still persisting so this is the probable reason they have prescribed Escitalopram to him.

As per my opinion he should continue to take the drug as the drug usually takes some time to show its effect. In usual cases in 1-2 months time individuals show improvement. If you can provide the details of duration of his symptoms and about his clinical symptoms then I can comment with more confidence for your case. Please provide details in follow up question. If he has ever suffered symptoms of excitement like anger outbursts, cheerfulness, or other mania symptoms during any episode of his illness or he always remained in depressive episode?

In resistant depression concomitant use of Lamotrigine also results in improvement. Please discuss about this drug with his psychiatrist as Escitalopram is not resulting in improvement.

Thanks, hope this helps you. Please provide details in follow up question.
