default
Posted on Mon, 29 May 2017
Question: Since I started methyldopa and transdopril er I have been sleeping 10 hours a night with an afternoon nap. Previously I felt great after 7 hours sleep on verapamil. My blood pressure is staying down but that is way too much sleep.

Brief Answer:
Methyldopa side effect.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

As methyldopa is a medicine which affects your brain mostly, its common side effect is tiredness. That is why, you find it difficult to wake up and you need to sleep more.
It is possible that after some time, you will adjust to this medicine and the tiredness will be gone. However it needs some time (usually few weeks). If after that time you wont see any improvement, consider medicine change.

Hope this helps.
Regards.
