Can Meloxicam And Advil Be Taken Together?

Question: I took Meloxicam 7.5mg, this morning and I just took Advil Pm now.( I have stomach issues and also take Prevacid). I forgot about the Meloxicam this morning. Should I be worried? Is there something I should do, now?

Dear patient,

Thanks for the query. The expected action of meloxicam is 24 hours, so you still had some action from the dose administered the day before. Advil is ibuprofen, which is exactly from the same group as meloxicam, they act through the same mechanism, so I would suggest to continue either one but not both as it increases risk of side effects. Meloxicam is more easy to administer since it is onc a day.
