Can Levoxyl Be Taken For High T3 And TSH Levels When Diagnosed With Hashimoto's Disease?

Question: Due to being diagnosed with Hashimoto’s my endocrinologist has prescribed Amour 60 mg which still left me on the low side. He adjusted medication up to 90 mg. My primary doctor just ran a thyroid profile and now my t3 and Tsh is high showing hyperthyroidism. My primary wants me to ask my endocrinologist abou switching my medication to levoxyl because he said that med can be adjusted in smaller doses. Will levoxyl cover my t3, t4 and T-shirt as well as handling the Hashimoto diagnosis? What are your thoughts on levoxyl vs armour?
Thank you, XXXXXXX XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
About armour and levothyroxine;

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for asking!
I habe gone carefully through your concern.
With Armour it is more difficult to adjust the doses and achieve normal thyroid levels in blood.
Especially at your age overdosage of thyroid hormones is more risky than hypothyroidism caused by Hashimoto.
I do agree with your family doctor to switch to levothyroxine. It will be more easy to achieve long term euthyroidism.
There is only a limitted number of countries that use Armour and in those countries that is used, it is not the first alternative but should be prescribed in a few cases.
You have experienced by your own the hormonal disbalance with Armour.
So, ask your endocrinologist to try levothyroxine.
Hope the information will help.
Best wishes,
Dr.Mirjeta
