Can Hydroxycut Be Taken Daily Along With Metformin?

default
Posted on Mon, 9 Mar 2015
Question: Can I take Hydroxycut with 500mg 2x daily metformin? Was on Phentermine but it affected my angular closure pre glaucoma, so my endocrinologist put me on Belviq, which in my opinion does the exact opposite of phentermine, it just makes me tired and want sweets all day! Is Hydroxycut safe to combine with metformin? Is it known to affect glaucoma patients? I'm 33 yrs old, if that helps / matters.

Brief Answer:
Herbal drug, not known to have side effects

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX,
Thank you for posting your query to HCM.

Yes, you can take Hydroxycut with Metformin, and its not known to affect glaucoma patients either.
Hydroxicut has as components herbal ones, which in general do not cause side effects.
But on the other side, the makers of supplements, unlike the manufacturers of other drugs don’t have to show that their products are safe or effective before selling them, so little there is known for the side effects. Keep this in mind, and as soon as you notice any side effect stop using it and contact your local doctor.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if you have any other question.

Take care.
Dr. Klarida.

Thank you. Is there any indication it will negatively interact with Belviq?

Brief Answer:
Side effects and other medicines interraction

Detailed Answer:
Hello again dear,

Belviq on the other side is a medicine that has a lot of side effects. You should be careful to adding other dietary supplements or change the dose, while you are using it.

Drugs that belviq should not be combined are SSRIs, SNRIs, tricyclic antidepressants, bupropion, 5-HT1 receptor agonists (triptans), dietary supplements (St. John's wort- Hypericum perforatum, tryptophan), drugs that impair serotonin metabolism (MAO inhibitors), dextromethorphan, lithium, tramadol, or antipsychotics or other dopamine antagonists, particularly when used in combination(I know, too complicated names, but if you are using one you should know the name).
It does not affect on Glaucoma or PCOS.

So I would suggest to use either one or the other.
Now Belviq is a drug with side effects, but is evidence based that is effective to weight loss. While Hydroxycut is a herbal one, maybe less side effects, and people have seen benefit while using it, but its not a drug proven scientifically to use for weight loss.
The choice of which one to use is yours. I would say, try going on Hydroxycut for some time and see if it is equally effective and allows you to feel and function better during the day. If you choose to continue with Belviq though, keep in mind to discuss every side effect or other drugs that you would consider to take, with your doctor.

Let me know if you have any other question.
Take care.
