Can HIV Be Contracted Unprotected Anal Intercourse?

default
Posted on Fri, 1 Jul 2016
Question: Hi, I'm concerned about my risk of contacting HIV.

Yesterday, I had anal sex (I'm the receptive end) with a guy from internet. He said he's clean and disease free, but I have reasons to doubt his words.

Anyways, that was the first time I had anal sex, and it was pretty painful. He had a condom on for parts of the process, and sneakily took it off in between for a while until I noticed and asked him to leave. I have heard that pre-cum also carries the potential of transmitting HIV virus. And that's what I'm concerned about in my case. He probably had unprotected anal penetration for 5 mins, and can you tell me if that put me at risk?

The penetration process was pretty minimal, he hardly moved when he's in me, and the entire process lasted less than 10 minutes.

He did not ejaculate either. And he also used excessive lube.

I know that in this case I'm probably not eligible for PEP, and I've been freaking out about it since.

Can you please tell me how risky is my situation and what are some things I could do at this point of time.

Brief Answer:
Risk is almost nil.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you for query.I am Dr Bharatesh D Basti answering your query.
Welcome to health care magic.I have gone through the details.

The chances of transmission by single unprotected anal Intercourse with a HIV positive person is very low. Major part of the act being protected, the chances is too low.
Precum can transmit HIV but the risk here is low.
As there was no ejaculation the chances reduces further.
If you do not have any bleeding wounds in the area of contact(like haemarhoids) ,then the chances is nil.
He may be negative too.
You can get his HIV tests done or get his reports to allay fears. You can go for HIV and STDs tests as a baseline.
I do not see the need for PEP.

You can get back for any clarification.
Thank you
