Can HIV Be Contracted Through Contact Of Vaginal Secretions On The Penis?

default
Posted on Wed, 16 Aug 2017
Question: I have concern ragrding hiv and std.
I had an exposure with CSW in sept16.
I used condom for the vaginal sex.
But since I lost erection in between i removed the condom using palm and with the same hand I touched my penis and foreskin immideatly.
Since the vaginal fluid was there on the condom & i used the same hand to touch my genital, can i be infected for hiv and std.
After 3 months I developed red rashes on my right arm which disappeard with in 3 to 4 days. And since than feeling cronic fatigue, weight loss, loss of appetite, muscle pain & Body pain.
I have gone through 6 hiv test(3 rapid test,2 -3rd gen antibody hiv screening ECLIA method ,1- combo test p24 cmia method (at 8 month), inbetween 3 to 9 months of incedence which all are non-reactive
Tested for hep B,C,VDRL, siphilis, urine culture, CBC. also. All are non reactive
except CBC in which total leyucocytes count is 13700 and in absolute leucocyte count -neutrophills9.70thou/mm3,lymphocytes 3.22 thou/mm3 which are above normal range.
Now i Got red scratch like rash on my face after 10 months.
Seeing all the symptoms and CBC report should i go for further testing.would you suggest PCR test for Hiv.
Can i be amongst the seronegative persons who does not produce antibody for HIV because of their genitic reasons??
Do The test done in the private laboratory has its authenticity in XXXXXXX or it may be wrongly reported to avoid the process of reporting it to the local govt. Healthcare authority.??
I am in a bit of a panic so would appreciate some advice.
Thanks
doctor

Brief Answer:
No need to worry.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concerns. Let me assure you that merely touching the genital secretions would not give you HIV or STDs provided that you do not have fresh cuts on your hand. I do not suppose that the subsequent rash had anything to do with it. I do not suppose that you need to be tested for HIV. There is no reason to assume that even in case of an infection you would not produce the antibodies. You may rest assured that a negative test report would not be given unless you are actually negative and that there is no question of under-reporting with respect to health authorities.

I would insist you to relax.

Let me know if I could help further.

Sorry to add I touched the Glans of Penis and inner foreskin with the same hand having vaginal fluid on it.
And even it might be possible that condom broke may have been overlooked because i was drunk.
After 3 months all the physical symptoms and full body muscle ace and pain in eyes, foogy mind, weight loss, rashes etc. all these are causing doubt.and persisting till now.
I have seen the Doctors also but could not find any reason & there is no improvement after medication.
Pl. Suggest if there is some doubt after all these tests or the tests are conclusive.??
Which test should i go for??

Thanks

Answered by Dr. Prof. Kunal Saha (39 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
The test results are conclusive and you can rely on them.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks again for writing back. Let me assure you that you can rely on the test results and that they care conclusive. By not accepting this you are simply making it worse. You are stressing out and this stress is taking its toll on your body. There is an entity called somatization disorder wherein the state of mind causes bodily problems. Testing is not the way out. The way out is in relaxation. You need to learn to relax and embrace the fact that the test results are negative. You need not assure that the worse is always waiting to happen to you. That need not be the case.

Once again I would insist you to relax and not to freak out.

Sir After 9 months non ractive results ..i had sex with my wife and after 3 weeks she got flu like illness and viral fever which got treated by the doctor but still she is complaining body ace, energy loss, can i relate to hiv ARS symptos since i am also having all these and becoming worse day by day.

Have you ever seen 9 months negative tuning to positive in future??
How can i be assured of the test results??
Thanks
doctor
Answered by Dr. Prof. Kunal Saha (12 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
No need to worry

Detailed Answer:
Thanks again for writing back. Everybody can get viral infections (flu-like infections) and there is nothing unusual about it. I do not think that you need to get worried about HIV in this context.

If the tests were to become positive, they would have been so in and after 3 months. Negativity after nine months will not get converted to positivity thereafter. You can be assured about the results.

Brief Answer:
Bacterial infection likely to be present

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back. I assume that the TLC report is of your wife. The TLC is raised and therefore indicates a bacterial infection. It needs to be treated with antibiotics like augmentin (amoxycillin+clauvulinic acid). I would insist you to visit a doctor and to get it prescribed.

The report does not correlate with HIV infection. Although the CD4 count would have been needed for the same.

Thanks doctor for the quick reply.
TLC Report and leucocytes report are mine.
I have gone for CD4 report 5 months back it was normal.
Do i need to go for test again?
Seeing the current reports
Is there any doubt of hiv infection after 6 hiv screening test in which one test was p24 combo test at 8 months??
Regards,
doctor
Answered by Dr. Prof. Kunal Saha (9 hours later)
Brief Answer:
Stop worrying about HIV. The episode is over. Get over it.

Detailed Answer:
Sorry for the inadvertent delay in responding. If the CD4 count was normal you need not worry. You need not test again. You need not test again for HIV as well.
Regarding the current report, HIV infection is not the concern. The concern is whether a bacterial infection is under suspicion. You need to get evaluated by your treating physician and he would be able to confirm whether you need to be treated with suitable antibiotics.

Sir,
My lymphocytes count has reduced to 15.90% and TLC 13000 earlier it was 24%TLC13200.
On internet i read that lymphocytes reduction is symptom of hiv infection...should i need to be worried with this.

Can condom broke be overlooked??
Does it brake in small holes or with a wider opening which can not be overlooked??

Sir thanks for your kind support and suggestion in this tough time.
Regars,
doctor
Answered by Dr. Prof. Kunal Saha (9 hours later)
Brief Answer:
Further details needed

Detailed Answer:
The absolute lymphocyte count i.e. 15% of 13200 is not very low and so you need not worry. In HIV infection the absolute count comes down. At your levels it is not concerning.

I could not understand what you mean by condom breaking. Do you mean that your condom actually ruptured while you were having sex? Please confirm.
A condom does not have holes. The wider opening for insertion of the penis. I will be able to explain properly once I get the exact problem.

Sir i mean to say that might it be the case that condom rupture may have been overlooked??
My lymphocytes are gradually becoming down ..what else may be the reason for that??
Even my whole body is in pain and feeling like fever inside rhe body.but on recording with thormometer it is95.7c

Answered by Dr. Prof. Kunal Saha (2 hours later)
Brief Answer:
Get your thyroid levels checked

Detailed Answer:
A condom rupture would not get overlooked.
Your lymphocyte count is not coming down. The relative count might seem low as the neutrophil section has increased possibly due to a bacterial infection.
You would need to get your thyroid profile checked. Low thyroid levels could lead to such a presentation.

Brief Answer:
Anxiolytics should help.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for the update. In such a case possibly you are suffering from somatization disorder. In simpler terms, your anxiety could be taking its toll on your body. If I had a patient like you, I would possibly have suggested him to take some SSRI like Prodep (fluoxetine) 20 mg once daily. Talk to your treating physician if that would be applicable for you. Also note that it is a long term anxiolytic and would take several weeks for the action to set in properly.

Hi, I have provided some attachments. Please review them.

Answered by Dr. Prof. Kunal Saha (37 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
No need to worry.

Detailed Answer:
I have checked the attached panel reports. I find all the parameters to lie in the normal range of variation. There is nothing to be concerned about. Stop worrying about the relative percentage of lymphocytes. 15.9% of 13000 is a reasonable number for absolute lymphocyte count.
